Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a protected area in the easern Nepal in Terai belt covering 175 km2 (68 sq mi) of wetlands touching of 3 disrticts Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur. The reserve is mainly for the protection of the different species of birds and the migratory birds. It comprises extensive mudflats, reed beds, and freshwater marshes in the floodplain of SaptaKoshi river. It ranges in altitude from 75 to 81 m (246 to 266 ft).
Birds lover and the researcher are highly enthuastic to step into the Reserve and enjoy the paradise of birds watching. Different species of birds including the colorful Danfe (Lophophorus impejanus) have been declared as the national bird. Nine species have been given legal protected status that include three pheasant spp. (Danfe, Monal and Cheer), two stork species (black white stork), two florican (bengal and lesser), Sarus Crane, Giant Hornbill, and there are 29 globally threatened species occurring in Nepal. That includes Swamp Partridge, Cheer Pheasant, Bengal and Lesser Florican, Sarus Crane, Wood Snipe, White-rumped and Slender Billed Vulture, Lesser adjutant, Grey Crowned Prinia, Bristled Grassbird, Jerdon's and Slender Billed Babbler and Finn Weaver. Baer's Pochard, Imperial Eagle, Pallas's Fish Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, and Hodgson's bush Chat are migratory and rarely occurs in Nepal . Lesser Kestrel and Kashmir Flycatcher are uncommon passage migrants. Spot-billed Pelican occasionally visits wetlands of Koshi Tappu. Rufous necked Hornbill, White-bellied Heron and Black-breasted Parrotbill have been extirpated from Nepal and Pink Headed Duck is presumed Extinct.

Day 01ArrivalArrival in Tribhuvan International Airport and welcome by our office representative. Then proceed towards the Kathmandu hotel. Check into the hotel and welcome drinks with tour briefing. Rest and evening free. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.
Day 02Drive to PulchowkiAfter breakfast drive to Pulchowki 18km southeast of Kathmandu. Short-Hike from Godawari to Pulchowki. Pack lunch box and whole day screaming of birds on Pulchowki .Return back Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03Drive to Shivapuri Nagarjun National ParkAfter breakfast proceed to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park 11 km northern side of Kathmandu. Whole day screaming of birds watching. Return back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel .
Day 04Fly to Biratnagar - Koshi Tappu After breakfast take early flight to Biratnagar. Reach Upon drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve [2hrs.]. Drive inside the reserve and in the scrub forest, grasslands and wetland habitat with lunch packs to scream different species of birds watching. In late afternoon you can either continue bird watching or enjoy optional elephant ride or visit to Pink Tower and watch gangetic dolphins. Checkin to resort and overnight.
Day 05Koshi Tappu Wildlife ReserveAfter breakfast ,visit to reserve yet for Birds watching. Take a morning jungle walk and join for Gentle Wildlife Rafting down the Koshi River. View water birds or animals attending to their daily needs. Kingfishers dive into the river looking for food, marsh muggers or Ghariyal crocodiles sunbathe. Even rare Wild Buffaloes and Gangetic River Dolphins can be spotted. Back to resort rest and overnight.
Day 06Fly back to Kathmandu After breakfast drive back to Biratnagar and catch evening flight back to Kathmandu. Arrival Kathmandu and Checkin to hotel . Rest and overnight .
Day 07DepartureAfter breakfast. timely transfer you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan Int’l Airport for your onward journey.
